Privacy Policy

What we collect
This is a marketing website for Bookish, a product of InkWriter Inc.
If you send us a message through the contact form or join the Bookish newsletter from the Shop, we collect the information you choose to provide: your email address and, for contact messages, your name, area of interest, optional school or organization, and message. These forms also use a hidden anti-spam field and a Cloudflare Turnstile verification token.
If you place an order, Stripe collects your payment details, email address, and shipping address on Stripe-hosted pages to process the payment. We receive the order details and shipping address needed to fulfill your order, but never your card number. Stripe’s handling of your information is described in Stripe’s privacy policy.
How we use it
We use the information you submit only to deliver your inquiry and reply to you. Contact messages are delivered to Bookish through Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). If you join the newsletter, we store your email address in a database on Amazon Web Services and use it to send occasional Bookish news, including when the Bookish Writing Folio becomes available, until you unsubscribe. We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Security and service providers
Cloudflare Turnstile helps protect the contact form from automated abuse. It may process technical information needed to determine whether a submission comes from a person. Amazon Web Services processes the form request and delivers it by email. Bookish does not create a contact-form database or intentionally retain message contents in application logs.
The “Stay Bookish” introductory video is hosted by YouTube and embedded through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain. The page first displays a poster stored on the Bookish website. After the page renders, the muted background player may load automatically unless your browser requests reduced motion or reports Data Saver. YouTube may receive technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, when its player loads. Choosing Play loads a sound-enabled player with standard controls.
The Supernote feature video on the home page is hosted by Vimeo. Nothing is requested from Vimeo until you choose Play; the player then loads in Vimeo’s do-not-track mode, which asks Vimeo not to set tracking cookies or build a viewing profile. Vimeo may still receive technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, once its player loads.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate: which pages people visit, roughly where in the world visitors come from, and which devices and browsers they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, which Google shortens before storing. We use this only to improve the site. We have not enabled Google Signals, advertising features, or data sharing for advertising, and we do not use this information to identify you or to build advertising audiences.
You can opt out of Google Analytics on every website by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser or with a content blocker. The site works normally either way.
What we do not collect
This site does not provide public user accounts or collect student coursework, and we never see or store your card details — payment is handled entirely by Stripe.
Links to other sites
This site links to research, YouTube, Vimeo, Supernote, and other third-party websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Your choices
You can contact us by email instead of using the form. You may also ask us to delete a contact message from our working inbox, subject to any legal obligation to retain it. You can leave the newsletter at any time by replying to any of our emails, and we will remove your address.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site and Bookish services change. We will revise the effective date above when we do.
